Super Trouper Stockholm

Accessible, compact and cosmopolitan are just three words used to describe Stockholm, Sweden’s capital city. So when I was invited to attend the M&I Private MICE Forum in the city in July, I jumped at the chance.

An extensive Baltic Sea archipelago, Stockholm encompasses 14 islands connected by more than 50 bridges. With its cobblestone streets and ochre-coloured architecture, it’s certainly a very attractive city with a wealth of conference hotels, venues, activities and leisure options. And being just 20 minutes from Stockholm-Arland Airport, which has connections to over 180 destinations worldwide, it’s easy to see why it’s proving so popular for business meetings and events.

The M&I Private MICE Forum is a great opportunity for events organisers to meet independent hotels and small groups from across the globe and network with our peers. It’s a chance to keep up-to-date with the latest destination trends and developments.

"Over two-days, we were able to network and make new connections with some of the most prestigious and unique hotels, venues and event suppliers from across the world.”

I was kindly hosted by the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, which enjoys a spectacular location overlooking Lake Mälaren, just moments from the T-Centralen Metro station. The hotel’s 414 bedrooms feature a sophisticated Scandinavian design, and with its conference space with 21 meeting rooms, it can easily accommodate some 3,000 delegates for a variety of events. A fitness centre, wellness options and number of dining facilities complete the offering.

Over two-days, we were able to network and make new connections with some of the most prestigious and unique hotels, venues and event suppliers from across the world.

We also had the opportunity to experience for ourselves some of what Stockholm has to offer. From boat races on the canals, to cycling city tours, as well as a must-do visit to the museum, which celebrates what Stockholm is surely most famous for – ABBA!

As an incentive destination, there is certainly plenty to appeal to a diverse range of visitors. History, water sports, scenery, relaxation and excellent food and local wines. The city is known as the shopping capital of the north, but there is so much more to see and do; it’s alive with open markets and museums.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in this super-trouper capital and I can certainly see why Stockholm is becoming one of the most prominent destinations.

If you’re thinking about Stockholm as a destination for incentives, meetings or events, then please give us a call. I’d love to tell you more about this beautiful city.
