The Sea Containers on the South Bank in London was the setting for a recent London client event. Part of Preferred Hotels, Sea Containers is conveniently located just a short walk from Waterloo Station on the South Bank, offering a great base from which to explore the city.

With its design reminiscent of a 1920’s transatlantic cruise liner, Sea Containers offers something a little different.

Upon arrival, we enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the hotel’s newly refurbished 12th Knot bar. Situated on the 12th floor, this rooftop bar and lounge offers panoramic views across the River Thames and is a great place to relax, unwind and drink cocktails. Its open-plan layout puts the panoramic views centre stage, so whether you’re at the bar, on the terrace, reclining on a cosy window seat or on the dance floor, you can enjoy the spectacular views of the city and beyond.

"All rooms are filled with natural light, modern artwork and colourful furnishings”

12th Knot can accommodate up to 300 guests for a standing reception, making it perfect for pre dinner drinks or Christmas /summer parties.

After drinks, we were given a tour of the hotel itself. The Sea Containers has 359 bedrooms ranging from standard rooms to suites and apartments. All rooms have either a double, queen or king size beds and come with en suite marble bathrooms.

A luxury riverside apartment is a 1200sq ft. space with an open-plan living and dining room, with stylish en suite bedroom, affording breath-taking city and riverside views from multiple angles. The apartment is also a great space for meetings, dinners and special events.

The other meeting room spaces channel the cruise ship style chic and can accommodate a variety of set ups.

Once we had finished our tour of the hotel, we settled down for dinner in the Sea Containers Restaurant, which is located on the ground floor of the hotel. The restaurant champions seasonal ingredient-led cooking with Mediterranean influences, and on the menu is a variety of small and larger plates designed to be shared.

With our 12 guests, we tucked into a delicious sharing platter that included homemade and homegrown mozzarella and tomatoes and succulent boneless sole fish. The restaurant was able to cater for all the dietary needs of our guests, making sure the dinner ran smoothly. The presentation of the food was stunning and all the flavours complemented one another beautifully

We were very impressed with Sea Containers and would highly recommend it for events, private dinners and meetings, be it large or small. All rooms are filled with natural light, modern artwork and colourful furnishings and each space has state-of-the-art AV equipment and WIFI, making it perfect for any event.
