Tewkesbury Park is the perfect destination for an intimate client event

Nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds between Bristol and Birmingham and a stone’s throw from the M5, Tewkesbury Park is a hidden gem. The hotel is beautifully set on its own 18-hole golf course and commands stunning views across the Cotswolds and Malvern Hills.

This family-run hotel oozes relaxed luxury. The main building dates to the 18th Century whilst new additions have added a spa, fitness and wellness centre. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and after a warm welcome were shown to our historic rooms. Think beautiful furnishings, sumptuous beds with super soft linens and roll-top baths. And the views at sunset were to die for.

We met our clients at 6pm for pre-dinner drinks of winter warmer cocktails, before sitting down for dinner in the Duke of Gloucester room, a decadently decorated private dining suite overlooking the golf course and with views towards Gloucester Cathedral. On the menu, a three-course feast of British cuisine with an Indian twist from the hotel’s Mint restaurant, produced by executive chef, Anuj and his talented team. A seasonal menu makes the most of produce that’s readily available from local suppliers and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It was all delicious. We finished off with a night cap.

I was up bright and early, making the most of the wonderful surroundings by walking the grounds and capturing the sun rising. Breakfast was an impressive buffet of hot and cold foods, one of the best Philippa thinks she has ever eaten in a hotel, which is quite the compliment. We were then given a guided tour of the hotel and leisure facilities by Business Development Manager, Amanda Baker.

There are 93 bedrooms in total, all elegantly decorated and with a separate seating area with views of the rolling hills of the Gloucestershire countryside. The hotel also offers six dog-friendly rooms for owners looking for a luxury stay with their furry friends. All situated on the ground floor and with gate access directly out onto the grounds, they come with dog beds and dog showers.

There’s also five beautiful event spaces. From the Duke of Gloucester room where we had dinner, to the uber impressive Cotswold Suite, which is just bursting with natural daylight thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass providing panoramic views. The room can be set up or divided to accommodate anything from 20 to 220 guests and is conveniently attached to the Berkeley Bar & Terrace, the perfect place for refreshment breaks.

The leisure facilities were just as good, offering something for everyone. The gym is well-kitted out and there are fitness and wellness classes, an indoor pool, jacuzzi, spa and treatment rooms as well as tennis courts. Not forgetting the hotel’s own par 72 golf course, the Deerpark, which is set in stunning parkland and has been named in the top 100 golf resorts in GB and Ireland.

For history lovers, the Battle of Tewkesbury during the War of the Roses was fought nearby in the aptly named Bloody Meadow. Walks around the site and through the deer park and along the River Severn take you to the medieval battlefield. And just a 20-minute walk from the hotel, Tewkesbury is a medieval market town with a magnificent abbey.

Our event here could not have been more idyllic. Beautiful grounds with panoramic views, stylish and comfortable rooms, delicious food, charming event spaces and lots of leisure and wellness activities all combine to make Tewkesbury Park a perfect getaway in an easily accessible location.
