In February, we hosted one of the best client events yet, at the Chewton Glen Hotel and Spa in the New Forest.

A real favourite amongst us all at Zanna Events, the Chewton Glen is a real hidden gem of a hotel and a chance to visit is not to be missed!

Nestled on the edge of the New Forest, the Chewton Glen is a five-star English country-house style hotel. Surrounded by some of England’s most stunning countryside and with the sea just moments away, this classic hotel is an idyllic escape for both business and pleasure.

Whilst it may sound hidden away, Chewton Glen is only two hours from London, and easily reached by rail, air and road, with Southampton Airport just 40 minutes away.

"We treated ourselves to a few hours in the hotel’s award-winning spa”

As you leave the main road behind and drive up the winding lane to the hotel, it’s like the stresses and strains of life are left behind.

On arrival at the hotel, we were directed to the pool bar, which overlooks the famous Chewton Glen spa, for an all-you-can eat buffet lunch. The food was delicious and healthy; much of it coming from produce grown within the hotel grounds itself.

We were then lucky enough to have some free time to explore the hotel for ourselves, and there really is plenty to see and do. For the active amongst us, there are indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a dance studio, gym, nine-hole golf course and 17-metre indoor pool. There is also a stunning array of woodland jogging routes and walking trails, as well as a beautifully manicured croquet lawn.

We treated ourselves to a few hours in the hotel’s award-winning spa, which boasts a hydrotherapy spa pool, aromatic saunas, crystal steam rooms, hot tubs, nail studio and 12 individual treatment rooms providing a myriad of spa treatments.

Feeling suitably relaxed and pampered, we met in the hotel bar for a pre-dinner glass of champagne, before being taken on a guided tour of the hotel itself, by the wonderful Lisa Lernoux-Dock, Sales Director at the Chewton Glen.

The hotel has four stunning meeting rooms, the largest of which is The Lake Suite, which overlooks the gardens and parklands and comes with separate office and reception area, and accommodates up to 140 delegates. The Library is an elegant boardroom with courtyard entrance, while the Wardroom on the second floor is a contemporary space. The Club Room and Mission Meeting rooms on the first floor are inter-connecting, providing flexible space for meetings, conferences and private dining.

Chewton Glen also has five beautiful treehouses, providing a luxurious and tranquil space in which to relax. Nestled in the tree canopy, the treehouses enjoy spectacular views, and benefit from their own outside terraces with comfy seating, outdoor hot tub and cosy wood burning stoves. The tree houses can also be used for meetings, pre-dinner drinks or intimate dinner parties. They really are perfect if you are looking for somewhere special and unique

Our last stop on the tour was The Kitchen, which is located down the driveway by the main gates. The Kitchen is set in a purpose-built space and has an open-plan layout. Bi-folding doors and glass panelling flood the room with natural light.

Dining at The Kitchen is a more informal experience and the a la carte menu features tapas style sharing dishes, wood fired pizzas, super salads and James Martin’s very own pudding selection. The Kitchen is also a cooking school, which is a fantastic group activity. What’s more, you just never know when James Martin himself might pop in for a surprise visit!

Sadly, we only stayed for a pre-dinner drink of Pink Gin and deliciously prepared canapés, before we were swept back to the main hotel for dinner.

Our tour over, we made our way to the Wine Room, which is a semi-private dining room based in the main restaurant. Perfect for groups of 12+, the Wine Room is slightly hidden away, but you still get the buzz and atmosphere of a busy dining room. Much of the ingredients used here come from just 100 yards away in The Kitchen gardens and the food is truly delicious.

After spending a night in one of Chewton Glen’s 58 guest rooms, we had a leisurely breakfast, whilst surreptitiously trying to spot celebrities.

A big thank you to Lisa and the team from Chewton Glen for their fabulous hospitality. Our visit certainly cemented the hotel’s position as one of our favourite destinations.
