M&I Forums recently celebrated their 100th edition of their Meeting & Incentive Forums. When I heard that the event was to be held at Disneyland Paris; who were also commemorating their 25th Anniversary, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to get involved with the celebration.
It’s not widely known but Disneyland Paris is the largest integrated meeting site in Europe. Located just 35 minutes from Paris, with an on-site TGV/RER/Eurostar terminal, Disneyland Paris offers 2 convention centres, 95 meeting rooms for 10 to 4,000 people and 8,200 bedrooms spread across 14 hotels, all located close to the convention centres.
We all stayed in Disney’s Newport Bay Club Convention Centre which is set in the heart of Disneyland Paris and close to other hotels and event spaces. You can easily walk to the Dome Disney Village, the Disney Event Arena or the Disney’s Hotel New York Convention Centre in under 5 minutes.
On the first evening the welcome party was held at Vienna House; a 4-star hotel which is located at the heart of the leafy and calm French countryside. Musicians serenaded us as we arrived and fireworks lit up a red carpet up as we made our way inside. Throughout the evening we were wined and dined in true French style and were entertained by some of the most interesting performers! One act was a famous pole dancer known for performing in locations such as Las Vegas – a great talking point that really broke the ice and was an impressive way to start the event.
The next morning consisted of short one-on-one meetings with hotels, venues and event suppliers from all over the world and it gave me a great opportunity to make new industry contacts.
Following a full morning inside the meeting room I was ready to get outside and explore. There were various activities that we could sign up to; from VIP tours and treasure hunts to Mechano 2CV building and golfing. You could even incorporate a trip to the centre of Paris which is only approximately half an hour away.
I had a go at the Treasure Hunt and working in small teams was a great way to learn more about the park, it’s history and put our knowledge of Disney characters to the test! Although we didn’t finish the treasure hunt, we did manage to get on a few of the rides and to see the Disney Parade which was just magical….no matter how old you are!
On the final evening the Walt Disney Studios Park had been exclusively reserved for us for dinner and the wrap party. On arrival the red carpet had been rolled out and we were greeted by staff wearing red ‘bell-boy’ style outfits and with a glass of champagne. The Tower of Terror and the Ratatouille rides had been reserved exclusively for our group and the entire studios with their Hollywood set made me feel like a star. This really is a ‘WOW’ factor venue and perfect for gala dinners and drink receptions.
The following morning marked the final day of appointments before we all made our way home. I came away with plenty of new contacts for new and exciting venue ideas for our client’s events. From incentives to conferences Disneyland Paris is a unique and interesting location for all kinds of events and most definitely a magical destination of endless possibility!
Congratulations to the M&I Team for another successful event and making it to 100 editions of the M&I Forums!
