Our first client event of the year was at the stunning Lainston House in Winchester. Part of the Exclusive Hotel and Venues, it is located just off the M3 and a few minutes from Winchester town centre. Is is the faultless location for a relaxed meeting experience and team building with the new cookery school and falconry.
Upon arrival, we met in the new cookery school, Season, greeted with a glass of champagne. The newly extended building built in 2015 was the perfect place to kick start our evening making homemade canapés with the cookery school manager Sylvain Gachot.
Once all canapés were made (and eaten very quickly) we started our hotel tour viewing the main meeting rooms. Altogether, Lainston House have 8 meeting rooms that can fit from 166 theatre style in the Dawley Barn to boardroom meetings of 12. Each meeting room is situated on the ground floor with national daylight looking out over the hotel grounds. With a running theme of being a 17th century country house, the hotel has 50 luxury suites, junior suites and bedrooms that are all individually designed and styled to keep the traditional feel to the hotel. A few are even dog friendly!
After the tour, we sat down in the Mountbatten room for a 3 course meal. The magnificent food started with hand dived orkney scallops, chicken wings, Hampshire watercress, celeriac and truffle.
The main was fillet of long horn beef, braised cheek, hispi cabbage and butter bean all cooked to your own preference! To finish, we had a chocolate ganache with sea buckthorn, hazelnut and a crème fraiche sorbet. This was one of the best meals I have personally had and the service made it that much more enjoyable!
To finish a lovely evening, we headed to a section of the lounge to enjoy our after meal drinks and homemade truffles to take in the evening we’d had.
